Forum Rules

Please follow these simple rules for the forum. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact "one of the Staff".

General Rules:

  • While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. One must be respectful of other members at all times. Our decision is final in these matters.

    • Being respectful is showing politeness or deference, and is characterized by acknowledging the feelings and interests of the other members.
    • Rudeness is deliberately being discourteous, impolite, rough in manners or behavior, harsh, or ungentle. Rudeness is the (apparent) disrespect and failure to behave within the context of the forum.
    • A personal attack is when a person substitutes abusive remarks for evidence when examining another person’s claims or comments. It will be considered a personal attack when a person starts referencing a supposed flaw or weakness in an individual’s personality, beliefs, lifestyle, convictions or principles, and use it as a debate tactic or as a means of avoiding discussion of the relevance or truthfulness of the person’s statement.
    • An inflammatory post is any post made intending to arouse anger, hostility, belligerence, passion, etc.
  • Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, or the such.
  • Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". Users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Members should not type using "texting" or "txt spk" as if on their cell phone (example: OK RLY? R U SRS??/!).
  • Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
  • Advertising, spamming and trolling is not allowed. This includes using the Private message system to spam other members.
    Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed.
  • Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.
  • While we are quite happy to have constructive comparative conversations about competitors, we will not tolerate blatant adverts or the sort of ‘ooh look, yet another bulletin board’ threads. Also, we would appreciate it if you refrain from blatant bashing of other boards or websites.
  • We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice.
    We also reserve the right to ban anyone who willfully violates the forum rules.
  • Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.
  • The OverHa! staff shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.
  • Members may not moderate threads and/or other members under any circumstance. If there is a problem, it must be reported to and be addressed by an Administrator or Moderator.
  • Members may not discuss moderations on either public or private boards. Most moderations are done publicly and within the same thread as the violation as to make everyone aware of what is and what is not acceptable behavior. Disputing or discussing a moderation must be done thru the PM system. Disputing or discussing a moderation on the boards can result in suspension of posting privileges until the issue is resolved using the PM system.
  • Any threads/posts of these types will be deleted.

Advertising Services

  • We do not allow people to post threads or to send private messages or emails to users here that advertise or solicit any products or services except where and as noted. Explicit advertising in sigs is also prohibited.
  • You should never give out your OverHa! password to anyone. We can not take responsibility if you disclose this information to anyone else.

Links in Sigs

  • Links in signatures must follow these guidelines:
    Linking to a commercial product/service is fine, provided it is not a product or service that competes with OverHa!.
  • Promotional text for a commercial product or service is ok, provided there are no price(s) of product(s) or service(s) listed.
  • A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site does not violate OverHa! community standards. The OverHa! staff shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or hate.)
  • Duplicate links to the same URL in a sig are not allowed.
